Why Get Fit?

There are many many reasons why a lot of us can find it increasingly difficult to start an exercise routine and stick to it. These days peoples’ lives are much less physically demanding as our ancestors, even our grandparents had to slog it out, these days many of us have our own cars for transport and often find ourselves stuck in front of computer screens in an office!

A busy work and personal life can sometimes make it genuinely difficult to find enough time to exercise. So think about what you want to achieve from exercise and set reachable goals.

· Physical inactivity can be an independent risk factor for coronary heart disease – Not enough exercise will increase the chance of you having a heart attack.

· Increasing the amount of exercise you do will result in a healthier heart and reduce cardiovascular risks and can help avoid high blood pressure

· Keeping fit and carrying out regular exercise can actually bolster good mental health and is a way to manage stress, anxiety and even depression.

· Regular and active exercise can help you to maintain your ideal weight, lose weight or even gain weight if needed, depending on your goals and diet.

As always when taking up exercise you should get your diet right, put the right fuel in and you will reap the benefits. Make sure you drink plenty of water, eat slow acting carbohydrate and avoid sugary and fatty foods. If you are weight training for size make sure to focus on getting enough quality protein from good sources such as a protein shake.
