Flight Discounts
Posted by Charles in Deals & Discounts on July 27th, 2009
Air fares have been an area of constant debate since the early 1990’s and have risen to become a much talked about aspect of holidaying in the 21st century. The increasing number of low cost airlines like easy jet has had a dramatic increase in the passenger volumes, particularly in Europe.
This competitive pricing between airlines in Europe has spread in more recent years to Transatlantic airlines. Aer Lingus had a price war with Ryanair in 2004 where transatlantic flights were on offer for just over £100. It has been said that with the introduction of the airbus A380 which can hold over 800 passengers, this would be the plane that sparks yet another price war, time will tell.
Often low cost airlines come under criticism by Governments and Regulators. For example, advertising fares but not including taxes which then appear when making a booking has been a topic of hot debate. Other issues surrounding low cost holidays include charging ‘nothing’ for the ticket but then increasing the bill by adding baggage costs such as baggage handling fee’s.
Having said this, the low cost aviation industry is expanding and has opened up much of the world to the customer at a cheap cost which should be seen as a positive thing. It is important when booking with low cost airlines you check for discounts on flights as prices are constantly changing due to the competitive nature of the market. It is no long essential to book many months in advance to make the best savings, many people are doing the exact opposite and opting for last minute deals.

Why Get Fit?
Posted by Charles in Sport & Fitness on July 21st, 2009
There are many many reasons why a lot of us can find it increasingly difficult to start an exercise routine and stick to it. These days peoples’ lives are much less physically demanding as our ancestors, even our grandparents had to slog it out, these days many of us have our own cars for transport and often find ourselves stuck in front of computer screens in an office!
A busy work and personal life can sometimes make it genuinely difficult to find enough time to exercise. So think about what you want to achieve from exercise and set reachable goals.
· Physical inactivity can be an independent risk factor for coronary heart disease – Not enough exercise will increase the chance of you having a heart attack.
· Increasing the amount of exercise you do will result in a healthier heart and reduce cardiovascular risks and can help avoid high blood pressure
· Keeping fit and carrying out regular exercise can actually bolster good mental health and is a way to manage stress, anxiety and even depression.
· Regular and active exercise can help you to maintain your ideal weight, lose weight or even gain weight if needed, depending on your goals and diet.
As always when taking up exercise you should get your diet right, put the right fuel in and you will reap the benefits. Make sure you drink plenty of water, eat slow acting carbohydrate and avoid sugary and fatty foods. If you are weight training for size make sure to focus on getting enough quality protein from good sources such as a protein shake.
Preventing Child Obesity
Walk down just about any street in the UK or go into any shopping centre you will see a lot of evidence of one of the biggest threats to our you people, child obesity. Statistics from recent studies show a worrying trend that if left un checked could lead to our younger generation being the first in human history to live to an average age younger than that of their parents.
Recent statistics suggest that one in three boys and one in four girls aged between the ages of two and nineteen are either overweight or obese. Some have argued that if this trend continues we could start to see similar levels to those in the United States, where a massive 63 percent of the population are overweight and a staggering 31 percent are clinically obese.
Much is being done to try to solve this problem with the government allocating almost £350 million to the Change4life campaign that is aiming to use TV advertising to raise awareness. Surely the key to this is education. We need to provide parents with all of the information and skills they need in order to first determine if their child is overweight and then to provide them with a healthy balanced diet that gives their body everything it needs but does not over load their system with excess calories that will ultimately be stored as fat.
This is not something that is just going to go away and it is up to all of us to ask what we can do to help. Our children are our most precious commodity and we should be doing everything we can to ensure they live a long and happy life.
Debt Management – Solving debt issues
Posted by Charles in Debt Management on July 8th, 2009
Is debt management the answer to solving debt problems?
The answer to this isn’t really isn’t a clear cut yes or no. An individual’s own personal circumstances are extremely important in ascertaining whether a debt management plan is not only suitable but available.
So, “personal circumstances” or “individual circumstances” are terms often used frequently when discussing someone looking at finance options. What do they mean? Well, in the terms of debt management there are a number of key factors that are looked at when it comes to “individual circumstances.”
Firstly, the level of debt would be calculated and it must also be clear that the customer must be struggling with payments. “Struggling” is a tough word to define but generally it means that payments are being consistently late or missed and that the customer cannot see a way of meeting the monthly commitments. For a debt management plan to work then the customer must owe in excess of £5000 and this must be with at least 2 separate companies.
Secondly, it has to be clear that payments on a debt management plan would be affordable to the customer. Clearly it needs to be cheaper than the payments on the current credit but a debt management company will only approve a plan if it is deemed to be affordable. A debt management company will not want a customer to default on its agreed payments.
A debt management plan is not an option to be taken lightly but if payments are clearly being missed, which is therefore affecting a customer’s credit rating, then a debt management plan or an IVA may be one of the only options available.
Staying Warm in a Bivi Bag
Whether you are on a mountaineering expedition in the Himalayas or you are camping locally, staying warm at night is of upmost importance to ensure that you get adequate rest and allow your body to recover from the days exertions. Without a good night’s sleep you will feel fatigued and lack concentration the following day, which in turn will affect your performance and enjoyment of whatever you may be doing. However, the use of a good quality bivi bags can ensure that you stay warm and dry in all conditions. Originally used by the military as a lightweight and compact solution to ensuring a good night’s sleep, the bivi is now used by a wide variety of people from all walks of life, from mountaineers, to fishermen and backpackers.
A bivi offers excellent protection from the elements with waterproof and windproof fabric which is also breathable. Did you know that the human body can produce a litre of sweat even on a cold night, which means that in a sleeping bag the occupant will be likely to suffer the effects of condensation which can leave you feeling cold and wet. However, choosing a good bivi bag will prevent this due to the latest innovations in Gore-Tex fabric which is not only breathable but waterproof, allowing moisture out but preventing it from getting in. In order to stay warm it is also recommended that you put down a camping mat as this will prevent body heat from being needlessly sucked away into the ground. This will also ensure an increasingly comfortable sleeping base, preventing any unwanted objects from digging into your body and hindering sleep.
The great thing about a bivi is that you don’t need to carry a tent and so can avoid all the extra hassle that comes with this , freeing up you backpack for other supplies. However, a bivi will work just as well in a tent and keep you completely dry and warm, making fully sure that you can get a good nights rest to be in top condition and ready to face the next day revitalized.
Wooden Baby High Chair?
There are numerous options to consider when you are thinking about selecting a high chair for your baby, among these options one that is often not considered is that of a wooden high chair. This can be due to a variety of factors, including that of there being a far less extensive range to choose from on today’s market which is flooded with plastic chairs and metal chairs or a combination of both. However, wooden high chairs can offer a great solution to seating your baby safely at meal times doing so in a stylish and timeless way that will never go out of fashion.
Firstly, when considering a high chair make sure that it is in accordance with the British safety standards or the safety standards of the appropriate country; these are the marks to look for in Britain, DD ENV 1178 and BS 5799. If the chair doesn’t feature this, then don’t even give it a second thought. For a selection of high chairs that have all passed safety standards visit High Chair Baby.
Wooden high chairs can have many advantages over the more modern baby high chairs especially in their durability. Often wooden high chairs are designed to be used past the first years and are made to adapt as your child grows, being useful right through to adulthood and being passed down the generations as an heirloom, making for a great investment.
The stability of a wooden high chair is also often far superior to that of a plastic/metal chair and will therefore be safer for your baby. Wooden chairs can quite often be far easier to clean and so will save parents time that could be otherwise spent with their child, not to mention vital minutes of extra relaxation.
One problem that is sometimes encountered with a wooden high chair is storage, as they can take up a bit extra room when opposed to a plastic/metal chair; however, we recommend that you try to find a folding high chair to counteract this problem.
All in all a wooden high chair provides a classy addition to any home which will stay fashionable and last a considerable amount of time, keeping your baby safe and making for a great investment.
Summer Motorbike Boots
Choosing a pair of motorbike boots for the summer months specifically is a great way to keep you cool and comfortable, able to exercise the best control of your motorbike and stay safe. Some riders take the option of wearing trainers, however, this is really not the greatest of ideas, as should you be unlucky enough to have an accident you will have very little protection and significantly increase the risk of serious injury.
Due to the feet being an extremity if they heat up this is likely to affect your overall body temperature quite considerably, just as when your feet get cold in the winter months and your whole body feels the effects with your core temperature dropping, the opposite can happen during the summer.
Basically what it comes down to is finding a pair of leather motorbike boots with ventilation areas to allow air to circulate and prevent an uncomfortable and concentration sapping overheating of the feet and body. There are various motorbike boots on the market that have inbuilt ventilation and air ducts which will circulate the air around your feet and keep them dry and feeling fresh.
Another option is to choose a textile pair of motorbike boots which will allow for far greater breathability and keep your feet well ventilated. Gore-Tex fabric is a favored option of many and will do the job excellently but one thing to take into consideration is that some believe that textile boots do not offer the best protection and that a rider should always wear leather for the increased safety. However, the decision is yours to make and what is most comfortable for you may be different to the next person’s opinion, so check it out for yourself. Stay safe and enjoy the summer months.
Pre-Spawn Bass Fishing
Though spring just ended, it’s always a good time to cover pre-spawn bass fishing. Knowing where to find the pre-spawn bass is the key here. The best spots to cast your reel are the areas with heavy stick cover. You can’t worry about catching a few snags if you want to catch that monster bass this time of year. There’s an old saying my grandpa used to tell me as a boy: If you ain’t snaggin’ your hook, you ain’t fishin’ for spring bass.
The key here is to situate your bait in the brush and let it sit. You may have to make a few attempts to get your bait deep into the sticks, but be patient and keep working your bait. Since I usually fish with a buddy, we start on opposite ends of the brush and work our way in making sure we fish every part of the brush. The most important part is to work all of brush, thus increasing your chances of success.
The two points to remember here are: Fish sticks and fish all of them! Don’t give up because like anything it can take time and patience. But effectively using this method will usually reap great rewards. Keep in mind that it may be illegal to keep that monster bass this time of year so check your local fishing laws beforehand. This is arguably one of the best times of the year to catch huge bass so be diligent and employ smart fishing techniques and you will go home happy.
Homeowner Loans in UK
Homeowner loans during this financial slow down in the UK economy have become harder to approve in the last 6 months however there are now strong signs that the market has improved greatly and more and more customers are becoming approved.
Lenders who offer homeowner loans are slowly relaxing some of their lending criteria and some new lenders have now entered the market resulting in good news for customers as their chances of approval has increased significantly.
When looking for this specific loan type it is generally recommended to use brokers instead of lenders to enhance your chances of being approved. With there being many online internet loan broker sites this makes the comparison and selection of homeowner loans much easier than simply walking into bank after bank or spending hours phoning different lenders.
Homeowner Loans are also known as Secured Loans and are loans that are secured on a property to offer security to the lender. These type of loans can generally be used for any purpose but the most popular are for debt consolidation and for home improvements.
A homeowner loan can be anything from £5,000 to £250,000 and for almost any purpose. Normally you can borrow this money from 5 to 30 years so you can meet your expectations of monthly payments by adjusting the term – many people take a homeowner loan over the same period as their existing mortgage and see it simply as an extension to that mortgage.
You shouldn’t need to pay any fees to make an application for a homeowner loan – but like mortgages – there may be fees involved in the set up of the loan but these should be incorporated in the total amount you’re borrowing and you shouldn’t need to pay anything in advance or upfront.
